AC/DC PRINCIPLES AND APPLICATIONS

AC/DC Principles and Applications, published by American Technical Publishers, teaches learners how to apply basic laws and analysis techniques to traditional introductory circuits, as well as popular, real-world AC and DC circuits. AC/DC Principles combines standard theory of electricity with fundamentals of electronics and demonstrates electronic theory as applied to actual applications. Throughout the book, only those circuit theorems and analysis techniques that are practical and typically used in real-world circuit analysis are addressed. In addition, Kirchhoff’s current law, Kirchhoff’s voltage law, Thevenin’s Theorem and Ohm’s law are introduced to ensure that the learner has a complete understanding of each law before attempting to apply all or part to traditional series and parallel circuits.

FitBit Apps

Air Quality Index APP

The air quality index app uses your current GPS location to find the closest air quality station for a real-time observation report. The AQI data may consist of ozone (O3) and particulates (PM10, 10µm and PM2.5, 2.5µm). AQI values are provided by AirNow.gov.

To use this app the user must obtain their own unique API key by registering at AirNow. The API key is entered into your phone under the AQI app settings. The app uses your phone’s GPS for geolocation and network gateway to receive the AQI observation data from AirNow API. No user information is saved and only the user’s current location is transmitted to the AirNow API. Instructions on obtaining an API key and setting up the app on your phone can be downloaded here.

For the different air quality levels, the app provides the pollutant description and activity guide published by AirNow using the on screen button.

For more information air quality please go to AirNow.gov. This app is found in the fitbit gallery.

Moon Phases App

The moon phases app displays the current moon phase and illumination percentage for the given date. The initial date displayed is the current date. The date display is a button that allows the user to select a different date for the moon phase, or the user can push the increment button to advance to the next date. This app was updated to use the phone’s location services to determine northern vs. southern hemisphere moon views. This app can be found in the fitbit gallery.

SunRise and SunSet App

The Sunrise/Sunset app displays the sunrise and sunset times for the users current location and time settings. The initial date displayed is the current date. The date display is a button that allows the user to select a different date for the sunrise and sunset data or the user can push the increment button to advance to the next date. This app uses the phone’s GPS and network connection to obtain the sunrise and sunset data. No user data is saved and only the user’s current location is transmitted to an API provided by Sunrise-Sunset.org. This app can be found in the fitbit gallery.

Poker Hand App

Poker Hand app is designed as a simple player reminder of poker hand ranks while sitting at the table. The app is a simple scrolling list that displays poker hand ranks from highest to lowest. This app uses no user data and can be found on the fitbit gallery.
